Center Janeza Levca Ljubljana (CJL) is a leading institution dedicated to the education and development of individuals with special needs. With a mission centered around social inclusion, empowerment, and lifelong learning, CJL serves as a cornerstone for special education in Slovenia. The organization operates multiple programs catering to children and youth with intellectual disabilities and other developmental challenges, aiming to foster their independence and integrate them into society through education, life skills training, and vocational programs.
CJL’s core activities reflect a comprehensive approach to education, including adapted educational programs, special education services, and community-based support. The center offers two main educational tracks: the Adapted Program with Lower Educational Standards and the Special Education Program, both of which prioritize self-sufficiency, social skills, and employability. CJL also operates a residential program for students who require additional support and offers specialized support services like psychological counseling, physical therapy, speech therapy, and social work. Their inclusive educational model extends to inclusive units at mainstream schools, highlighting CJL’s commitment to integrating students with disabilities into broader educational environments. CJL’s long-standing experience in inclusive education aligns closely with the objectives of the SportWay project. Their focus on fostering self-reliance and social integration among individuals with special needs makes CJL an ideal partner in promoting inclusive sports. In addition to their work in education, CJL organizes “Bodi Športnik” (“Be a Sportsman”), part of the annual “Igraj se z mano” (“Play with Me”) festival, which has been an inclusive sports event for all—individuals with and without special needs—for the past 18 years. This initiative dovetails with SportWay’s goals of expanding inclusive, accessible sports events. Through SportWay, CJL will contribute to a model that fosters community, creativity, and inclusion, empowering individuals with disabilities to participate in sports on an equal footing and promoting active citizenship among volunteers and participants alike.

Within the SportWay project, the Special Education CJL serves as the central coordinator, ensuring the project runs smoothly and meets the highest standards. CJL brings a wealth of experience from past successful events and international projects focused on inclusive education, sports, and community engagement. With expertise in project management and a deep commitment to inclusivity, CJL is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project—from planning and execution to maintaining strong partnerships and collaboration with organizations in Austria and Italy.
As the main point of contact, CJL facilitates communication across all partners, providing guidance and support to ensure each organization contributes effectively toward SportWay’s goals. They manage timelines, monitor deliverables, and guarantee that each phase of the project aligns with the overarching mission of promoting inclusive sports.
Through their leadership, CJL not only maintains a seamless workflow but also empowers partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders to collaborate effectively, advancing SportWay’s vision of a more inclusive and accessible sports culture across Europe.
